While gardening this morning, I noticed that the white mustard sown during mid August was now in flower and becoming a real magnet for the bees to gather late pollen.Has anyone else sown mustard and noticed the bees making a beeline to it ?

Save money next year by drying your own seeds. The picture above shows some of the seeds I am drying this autumn. Perhaps we could have a seed swop in the spring. Borlotti beans are not only tasty they are also a work of art in themselves.Does anyone else grow unusual beans on the allotments?

Gourds grown this summer to decorate St Martins Harvest Festival. Seeds brought from Lidal's , easy to grow and fun to see which gourds grow from which seed/plant.The gourds make a colourful table decoration during the dull winter months. ( I will have some to spare to sell for the Furlong Fund in the near future )
